Stringing hops
Preserving hop history at Agrarian Ales Hop Farm
Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah discovered heritage hops growing near the native plant nursery on Mt. Pisgah. Although the variety of hops is not known, previous harvests from plants collected from the riverbanks around Mt. Pisgah were analyzed.       “One variety was Cluster, which was the original hop grown in the Willamette Valley in the late 1800's. Another was Fuggle, which replaced Cluster in the early 1900’s, due to higher resistance to downy mildew.” according to Ben Tilley, owner of Agrarian Ales Hop Farm in Eugene.
A volunteer work party transplanted the heritage hops to Agrarian Ales, where they surely will lend their historic character to Pisgah-inspired beers.
