Umpqua Brew Fest V Afterthought 3

Besides being able to visit all the local breweries under one roof, another joy at a brew fest is to discover new-to-you beers from out-of-town. Even though brew fests offer the opportunity to taste a variety of styles and a range of flavors all in a day's work, if you’re lucky, you’ll make the unexpected discovery of a beer that is so good and so spot on your taste bud wheelhouse, you give up trying to find better tastes and spend the rest of your precious beer tickets on more tastes of your latest and greatest new favorite. At Umpqua Brew Fest V, Flat Tail Brewing’s George Cones Dry Hopped Pale Ale fit this Brewburger's multiple return visit bill. Using 2-row barley fermented to a sessionable 4.5% ABV, the mere 30 IBUs of all New Zealand hops—Wakatu, Wai-iti, and Motueka give George Cones its exotically tropical flavor appeal. Now, if only Flat Tail bottled George Cones; if only it were a year round instead of seasonal beer; if only Corvallis were closer to Roseburg; if only growler fills were sold at the UBF instead of just 3 oz. tastes or 6 oz. glasses…
